PINECREST STAFFERS, ALWAYS ON THE MOVE.

PINECREST STAFFERS, ALWAYS ON THE MOVE.

THE STAFF:

Jill Spevacek: Park Manager (daughter of owners Frank and Kathleen)  Is a UC Santa Cruz graduate. She loves the outdoors, hiking and travel. Mountain Chickadee Farm is her baby, and she intends to provision the Pinecrest and Julian communities with her can’t-get-more-local vegetables and fruit.  Plans are to tap her outdoor education experience and get some activities going that will engage kids of all ages in the joys of nature.  Jill can be seen around Pinecrest many days of the week, making sure the facilities are running smoothly. Jill is the on-site go-to representative.

Wilson Riggs: Facilities Director. Wilson is an out-doorsman extraordinaire.  You may have seen him around Pinecrest during the winter and spring, but his summers are spent guiding multi-week backpack trips through Yosemite. Wilson graduated from UC Santa Barbara and became an outdoor educator at Sierra Nevada Journeys (that’s where he and Jill met).  He’s worked with special needs kids at various camp settings and has a knack for being fun to be around.  But when at Pinecrest he works hard to get facility improvements done right, and there is always more of that to do.

TimoNanda: Website & Social Media Guru / Branding. In addition to creating our website, blogs, bulletin board and Pinterest & Facebook pages, Timo is active in the formation of the look and feel of Pinecrest. He owns the Wabi-Sabi trailer that overlooks the Vista Outlook, and the grower of this summers giant sunflowers in the Community Garden.  Timo is the founder of the Secret International Outdoor Arts & Film Festival, and this year’s Zucchini Festival.  He is interested in community building and cultural development here at Pinecrest.

Judy Fender: Happiness Director. Judy manages the Swim Club, greets all who enter the Clubhouse, coordinates check-ins to the Vintage Rental Trailers, and most importantly makes everyone smile. Judy is the go-to girl for snacks and candy and knows where the band-aids are keptand how to use them! She is the one to go to with any questions about atPinecrest. If she doesn't know the answer the question, she'll find out.

Pam & Don: Camp Hosts.  The newest addition to the Pinecrest team, is a creative, dynamic couple who are no strangers to Pinecrest. As longtime site holders, they know their way around the park. They are interested in music, design and event planning. We look forward to having them here at Pinecrest Retreat.

Kathleen Rosenow and husband Frank Spevacek (the relatively silent partner) purchased Pinecrest in 2005 with the intent of nurturing the land and its facilities back to good health (a portion of the 85 acres was burned in the 2003 Cedar Fire).  It has been a journey of steps forward and backward but much has been accomplished.  Kathleen has recently retired from her career as a community improvement advocate to devote more energy to the Pinecrest Retreat community. She’s the business manager, investor, sometimes cheerleader. Frank is the City Manager for the City of La Quinta and enjoys spending weekends at Pinecrest with family & friends.
